Caught in the In-Between – Part 1

#1: The In-Between is full of sick people Have you ever noticed once you get on a plane and the air stops flowing that everyone starts sneezing or coughing? I am embarrassed to say but my reaction is always the same — I start to cover my face like a crazy person trying not to get whatever zombie flu they are giving out! But on this last trip, right as I started hearing the symphony of coughs and sneezes the Lord reminded me of Mark 2:17.

“On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Honest Moment: Sometimes I get so caught up in where I am going or what uncomfortable situation I am in that I forget that there are people that really need to encounter Jesus near me. There are people all around me everyday that need me to get out of comfort zone and smile, and show the love of Jesus. There are people in my world that need a “bless you” , a “you’re awesome”, and I just need to stop focusing inward and really see people like Jesus did. He saw everyone for who they were going to be and He spoke to that! He didn’t see their infirmity or their issues, He saw potential and called it out. He showed mercy and gave grace out in huge sums. After reading the verse I caught myself fighting back tears and I whispered to myself, “Dear Lord, make me a person who see’s potential in everyone and reacts and speaks to that…Let me see them like you see them…” So yes, the in-between is FULL of sick people, but if we are called to be Jesus in a broken world then we should see the current wait or in-between moments in life for what they are…medical mission trips.
